FEHB Eligibility Changes due to Healthcare Reform

On January 1, 2011, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act changed the eligibility requirements under the “Self and Family” enrollment option. Children, stepchildren, and certain foster children under age 26 are eligible for coverage in the FEHB plan. The child’s marital status, student status, living arrangements, and financial dependence are not factors in the determination of eligibility. Phased Retirement Regulation under CSRS and FERS

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) recently announced the adoption of phased retirement regulations under the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) and the Federal Employees' Retirement System (FERS). This regulation will allow (agency approved) eligible employees to work on a part-time basis while drawing partial retirement benefits.
